Win the Battle Over Hunger with these 5 Natural appetite suppressants Teas

Natural Appetite Suppressants – Teas

Green Tea

Green Tea is one of the more popular teas and is widely known to help with weight loss and appetite. But what is it about green tea that is so helpful? It’s an antioxidant called EGCG.

EGCG helps boost your levels of CCK naturally. CKK is a hormone that causes you not to feel hungry. In a study done in Sweden, researchers were looking at the effects of green tea has on hunger.

They split up the participants into two groups. The first group drank water with each meal they had. The other group drank green tea when they ate. The green tea drinkers reported that after two hours after having tea they didn’t crave their favorite foods.

Besides curbing your hunger, green tea is chuck full of flavonoids. They are also known to help fight against cancer and help with blood sugar levels.

Oolong Tea

Oolong comes from the same tea leaves (Camellia sinensis) as the green tea plant. So, it has a lot of similarities as green tea. Oolong is semi-oxidized, while green tea isn’t. You can look at Oolong as being a tea that is between green and black teas.

A study was done by scientists from Japan’s University of Tokushima – School of Medicine. They stated that naturally occurring antioxidants in oolong tea help break down body fat. And it had the ability to burn 2.5 times as many calories as green tea.

According, to Suntory Research Centre in Osaka, Japan, “Oolong Tea suppresses the appetite while moderating blood sugar levels, reducing the side effects (eg mood swings) of consuming sugar products.”

Oolong is powerful tea and it tastes great. Here is one of my favorite oolongs I have tried. It’s delicious and smooth! Peach Oolong Tea

Chaga Tea

Chaga is not widely known or used, but it’s a powerhouse of health benefits. My family and I drink change almost daily. Chaga is considered a mushroom but isn’t a mushroom as we know. It’s a type of fungus that grows on birch trees across parts of North America, Northern, Eastern Europe, and Asia. It’s hard like wood and grows on birch trees. The taste is very subtle and nice.

Chaga is full of antioxidants and enzymes that help the body heal and lose weight. In ancient times it was used to treat ulcers, gastritis, and tuberculosis. In modern day it is even used to treat cancer, diabetes and even AIDS. It is antibacterial, antifungal, antiparasitic, and antiviral.

It is known as a strong appetite suppressant. I can attest to this as it has helped me with my appetite and cravings. I consider chaga a win-win tea.

Ginger Tea

Ginger is a double-edged sword when it comes to weight-loss. It’s a natural appetite suppressant, lowering blood sugar and stopping those hunger pangs. It’s thermogenic ability (warms up your body), also increases your metabolism. Helping you burn more calories with less effort. And who doesn’t love that?

Ginger can be made into a tea or used in your cooking. It’s one of those roots that is extremely versatile.

Mint Tea

Mint tea is an interesting one. The reason mint is a great way to curb your appetite is that it works with your sense of smell.

How many times have you walked into a bakery and the smell of fresh baked goods made you hungry? Someone in my office had this candle that smelled like hot cinnamon buns that came out of the oven. You will be sitting there thinking. “Man, I would love something sweet right now.” It was the worst!

Well, that’s what mint tea does but the opposite. The smell actually turns off your appetite. Scent travels to your brain and can affect the part of the hypothalamus that tells you how full you are. When you smell mint it can release hormones that curb and suppress your appetite. The New York Times wrote an article on how peppermint might be the one scent that affects taste and how much you eat.

So, why drink it if it’s only the smell that matters? Well, mint tea has a powerful effect on your digestive system and cause your body to be calmer. Anything that aids in digestion or helps with stress will help you with weight loss.

You have looked at 5 powerful teas that will help you win the battle over your hunger. They all carry their own unique qualities to aid you in a healthier lifestyle. Try them out!

Cheers to drinking tea!

Hi Cheryl! I get mine on Ebay. I'll place a link to the one I purchase under the Chaga section. The provider harvests the chaga in the forest. It's a great price and you getting chaga that is NOT made in a lab.

I love this article. It is full of great information. I feel better when I drink green tea. It gives me a sense of well-being and seems to energize me. Just taking time for tea and it makes my day go better. The fact that it may inhibit fat retention in the body is a bonus.
