In this article, we will explore different prayers for your dog. Sometimes our canine pets need some blessings from above.

Pets can be just like family. They play a huge role in our lives and we want to do everything that we can to help them stay healthy.

Many dogs battle anxiety, behavior issues, sickness and more. We can help our dogs by lifting them up in prayer. God cares about us and our pets, so it’s important that we would also include praying for them as well.

Tips For Praying for Dogs

You would think praying for your dog is easy. But sometimes it can be difficult to know what exactly to pray. So, I wanted to share 3 helpful tips you can apply while using the dog prayers below.

• Share Details With God – God wants you to make prayer time personal and this even includes lifting up your pup! Make sure to share specific details with the Lord about what is going on with your pet. For example…You dog is still is a puppy and keeps peeing everywhere. This would be a good time to pray for patience for yourself, and ask God to help your dog learn potty training easily.
  
• Pray with Your Dog – If possible try praying with your dog there. If you are praying for something difficult like your dog is sick. Have a family member also join you in prayer.
  
• Always Ask for Wisdom – A lot of times what is going on with your dog is something that can be easily remedy if we have insight to what is going on. That’s why we should ask God for wisdom for yourself and your dog.
  
  If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. -James 1:5

Prayer for Sick Dog

Prayer Point: Pray that God will heal your dog’s body from any pain and suffering they are feeling. Remember God is a miracle working God!

Heavenly Father, I come before you today asking that you would heal my dog from any pain and suffering they are facing. I pray that you would remove all sickness in their body and help them to be pain-free. Bless my dog, Lord and let there be a miracle! In Jesus’ name. 

Prayer for Dog to Stay Healthy

Prayer Point: Pray that God will keep your dog or puppy strong healthy. Pray that God will protect them from any diseases or viruses. 

Heavenly Father, I come before you today asking that you would bless my dog with good health and strength. Please protect them from any diseases or viruses. Let him/her stay away from things that could cause them harm. In Jesus’ name, I pray Amen!

Prayer for Dog’s Behavior

Prayer Point: Your dog’s behavior can change depending on health, enviroment, food, and more. It’s wise to pray that God to bless your dog with good behavior that way they will not get themselves into trouble.

Lord, I lift up my dog to you and I ask that you would help them with their behavior. Give my dog wisdom and intelligence to know to do the right thing and that they would no react negatively from outside sources. Help my dog to remain peaceful during times of high anxiety. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Prayer for Dog’s Protection  

Prayer Point: Pray to keep your pet protected from any danger or harm that might come their way. 

Lord, I ask that you would protect my dog from any other animal that would try to harm it or eat anything that could hurt them. Give my dog discernment and the ability to understand danger. Watch over them Lord, and thank you for pet. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen!

Prayer for Dog’s Training  

Prayer Point: Pray that your dog is obedient and takes well to training. Pray they are able to listen and understand commands easily.  

God, I ask that my dog would take well to training and is able to learn commands. Help his/her mind to grasp words like no, sit, come, walk, and others. Let him/her learn quickly and easily. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen!

Prayer for Lost Dog to Come Home 

Prayer Point: Pray that your dog will come home safely. Pray they return to you no matter what it takes, and asks God for signs of their whereabouts. Pray that others would help to find them as well.

Heavenly Father, I come before you today with a heavy heart because my dog is lost. Please send signs to let me know where they are. Give them the wisdom and strength to return home no matter what it takes. Pray that others would assist in finding my dog, too! In Jesus’ name I pray Amen!

Prayer for Dogs Loyalty  

Prayer Point: Pray that your dog would remain loyal and not wander off to find a new home or they will not be aggressive with other people in the home. Pray that they are gentle and calm. Pray for their obedience to remain strong in the home. 

God, I pray my dog would not wander off or become restless. Help him/her to be able to stay obedient and loyal here with me. Help them be kind around guests who come into our house. And is able to discern an intruder from a friend or family member.  In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen!
