What is patience? Well, without doing a deep Bible study on the topic it’s the ability to be calm and not get angry when things are taking too long. It is the feeling of being able to deal with something or someone in a slow, kind, and careful way.

We all need patience at some point in our lives because it helps us stay calm and collected during stressful times. I know for me there have been many times when I needed patience.

My heart today is to share prayers of patience that should encourage Christians and Catholics to communicate with God and ask for His patience and blessing! So, let’s get started.

Tips Before You Start Using Patience Prayers

Like with all written prayers it’s important to follow these tips.

• God desires authentic and personal prayers. Please, don’t think that just reciting someone elses prayer is the same as a heartfelt prayer of your own. When reading through these prayer find one that resonates with you. From their let that prayer inspire you as you pray it to the Lord.
  
• Ways you can make a prayer personal:
  • Get specific: mention situations, people, emotions you feel, and what you desire from the Lord.
  • Expand: most of these are short prayers but that doesn’t mean you have to stop praying once it’s over. Take some extra time to connect with Jesus.
    
• Don’t be in a hurry when you are praying. I love what E.M Bound says in this quote…

I think Christians fail so often to get answers to their prayers because they do not wait long enough on God. They just drop down and say a few words, and then jump up and forget it and expect God to answer them. Such praying always reminds me of the small boy ringing his neighbor’s door-bell, and then running away as fast as he can go.

• In Galatians 5:22-23, patience is part of fruit of the Spirit. If you are struggling with it then I encourage you to spend more time with the Lord. When we abide and wait on God this is when the fruit of the Spirit manifests in our life.
  
• Patience can be for multiple reasons. The two main ones is dealing with people/person and the other is waiting for something to change. Somtimes it’s a combination of both. When you are looking through these prayers have in mind where you are at.
