Leadership and Ministry

Developing Yourself As a Leader

Some naturally have leadership abilities or what I like to call a leadership drive. Just because you are born with it doesn’t make you a good leader. I am one of those people that since little naturally gravitated toward leadership roles. But I learned quickly that those positions demand a lot of character, sacrifice, and learning. I dug into books, listened to leadership teaching, and of course practiced hands on being on a team or leading a team.

No matter how long you have been a leader you can always grow and be refreshed. It’s important that we are always moving forward and never become stagnant.

The GREATEST Leader

This is by far one of my favorite quotes. It encompasses leadership and Jesus!

“I know men and I tell you that Jesus Christ is no mere man. Between him and every other person in the world there is no possible term of comparison. Alexander, Casedar, Charlemagne, and I founded empires. But on what did we rest the creation of our genius? Upon force. Jesus Christ founded His empire upon love; and at this hour millions of people would die for Him.” ~ Napoleon Bonapart.

Jesus was and is the greatest leader in our human history. He led by serving, and loving others. He should be our example as we develop ourselves as leaders.

Developing Healthy Teams and Groups

“None of us, including me, ever do great things. But we can all do small things, with great love, and together we can do something wonderful.” – Mother Teresa

Working in a team or leading a team is a lot of fun, but at times it can be hard. You have a mixed match group of personalities, giftings, and attitudes. Creating synergy and unity within can happen with intentional leadership.

As a leader you set the tone and the environment in your team or group (this also applies to groups: small groups, ministry groups, Sunday school class, ect…). One of my church leaders would always tell us you can either be a thermostat or thermometer. Are you going to set the temperature in the room or be affected by the temperature?

As you learn to develop yourself as a leader it’s also important to develop those in your team and group.

Check out the posts below on how you can do that. You will find team building games, ice breakers, more content is coming soon!
