In this article, we will look at powerful prayers for police officers and law enforcement. The goal is for these prayers to inspire your prayer time with the Lord.
Police officers and law enforcement workers are in an increasingly dangerous line of work. They put themselves in the way of danger on a daily basis to protect us from harm.
It’s amazing how much they sacrifice to be in the line of duty. I have a family member who is a police officer and there have been many times we have had emergency prayer for them because he is in a dangerous situation.
This is why I have created prayers for police officers and law enforcement that will help you pray for protection, wisdom, discernment and so much more on their job.
Before You Get Started Praying for the Police…
I mention this a lot through my prayer and intercession posts, but it rings true here as well. When we use written prayers we want to make sure we make them personal and from the heart. The Lord wants to hear from YOU, not just these prayers I have written. He wants to hear what is on your mind and heart for the police and law enforcement in your area.
Here are some of my tips:
- If you know someone specifically in the police department then make sure to use their name and information you know about them while you pray. An example would be if you know the officer is married with a family. You could pray for protection for the office but also peace of mind for their spouse and children while they are out on duty.
- Let the Holy Spirit lead you! Many times if we wait on the Lord in prayer He will bring something to our mind, like a Bible verse, a person, or situation. Wait for these moments and pray accordeningly.
- Use these prayers as inspiration. You can read these prayers to give you an idea of what to pray. Kind of like a diving board that your jump off of! I have provided prayer points you can also use as a guide to help lead you in prayer.
Prayers for Police Officers & Law Enforcement
Prayer for Protection for Police Officers & Law Enforcement
Prayer Point: Police face a very dangerous job. They are never sure who or what they will encounter while they are on the duty. Pray for their protection physically and emotionally. Psalm 91 is a great prayer to pray!
Heavenly Father, please watch over and keep our police officers safe. Protect them from danger and harm as they go about their work of serving people. Give them your grace to help them discern what is wrong when it’s hard to tell so that they can stop evil before it happens. I pray for the safety of our police forces and that you would surround them with a hedge of protection. That no hard would come to them physically, or emotionally. In the name of Jesus, amen!
Prayer for Discernment of Police Officers & Law Enforcement
Prayer Point: In the line of duty police officers experience situations that can be confusing. They need discernment to know what is going on, and who is telling the truth. Pray for these individuals to have divine discernment and understanding.
Heavenly Father, please give our police officers discernment so that they can know what is wrong when it’s hard to tell. Give them a deep understanding of situations and the people they are dealing with. That they would know truth from a lie and be able to deal with everything with wisdom and integrity. In the name of Jesus, amen!
Prayer for Police Officers’ Wisdom
Prayer Point: Everyone needs wisdom, but some jobs need extra wisdom. Being in law enforcement is one of them. They face all kinds of problems, and cases that they need wisdom for. Pray that they would have the wisdom to know what to do and how to go about doing their job in a way that is safe and beneficial to all people.
Heavenly Father, please give our police officers and law enforcement wisdom as they go out on duty. Help them to make wise decisions so that Your will is done and we can have peace on our streets. Protect them from harm by showing them potentially dangerous things that could happen in advance. I pray for divine wisdom and favor from You so that they will be able to work efficiently and see justice prevail. In the name of Jesus, amen!
Prayer for Police Officers’ Angelic Protection From Angels
Prayer Point: God’s messengers are powerful and can aid police officers while out on the streets. Pray for angels to surround them while driving, and serving.
Heavenly Father, please watch over and keep our police officers and law enforcement. I ask that you would send your angels out before them. That they would make a way for them and protect them and guard them against any harm. I also pray Lord that You would send an angel to each officer. That Your messenger would aid and minister to that officer. In the name of Jesus, amen!
Prayer For Police Officers While On Patrol
Prayer Point: A lot can happen while on patrol. I like what Adopt a Cop says to pray that officers would exhibit integrity, honesty, and dedication while serving.
Heavenly Father, please watch over our police officers and law enforcement workers today. As they go about their day give them what they need. If it’s wisdom then give them wisdom. If it’s favor give them favor. If it’s protection, then give them protection. Meet them where they are as Lord and provide for them. Let them feel Your presence as they go about their day. Send Your angels to follow them while on patrol and help them to walk in integrity and kind justice as they deal with people on the streets. In the name of Jesus, amen!
Prayer for Grace for Police Officers & Law Enforcement
Prayer Point: Working for the police department can be a stressful job and taxing on your physical and emotional health. Praying for grace lends the strength they need to keep going.
Lord, please give our police officers and law enforcement workers grace as they go on patrol today. Overshadow them with Your presence and peace as they go about their day. That they would rely upon You to give them the strength they need to fulfill their duties. In the name of Jesus, amen!
Prayer for the Salvation of Police Office and the People They Interact With
Prayer Point: You may be praying for someone who is already a believer. If that is the case then pray that they would light and salt to all those they encounter and work with. If they don’t know the Lord or you are praying in general then pray for their salvation. That God would soften their heart and bring them to the knowledge of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
Lord, today I lift up the police officers and law enforcement in our city. I ask that those who know You would be able to share their faith with those around them and see many come to You. Give them the words they need that will soften the hearts of those who hear them. Let them be a shining light to their co-workers and those they meet throughout the day.
And Lord for those police officers who don’t know You. Bring them to a place that they would receive You as Lord and Savior. Let them be sensitive and soft to the nudge of the Holy Spirit and let them cry out to You. Show them how much You love them and long to help them. In the mighty name of Jesus, amen!
