In this article, we will look at 8 different prayers for your brother or brothers. These prayers and prayer points will help guide you and inspire you to bring your brother up in prayer.

I am a big fan of brothers. Well, I really don’t have a choice I have three older brothers. And even though there are times I wish they were my sisters, I am very thankful to have them. They have always been helpful and good towards me.

I believe it’s important to have a relationship with your brother. And one of the best ways you can show your support and love for him is by praying for him.

I know from my experience that my brothers need prayer. They have gone through some very hard seasons in life and faced some very heartbreaking situations.

Tips for Praying for your Brother

Like with all written prayers there are some important things I need to cover. I call these tips or recommendations.

• I don’t know your brother, but YOU DO! So, when praying for him and using these prayers make sure to make them personal to your brother.
  
• Let your prayer come from your heart. Don’t just read the prayer out loud and call it good. God wants geniune prayers that come from your heart.
  
• Be led by the Holy Spirit. Don’t be in a hurry when you go before but wait for God’s presence to come and His leading as you pray for your brother.
  
• Let these prayers inspire you! Sometimes, you want to pray for your brother and just don’t really know what to pray about. This is a perfect time to let these brother prayers (as I like to call them!) be the inspirations you need. This is why I also have written prayer points. You can use those as a guide to help you pray for him.

Prayer of Protection for your Brother

Prayer Point: Pray for protection for your brother. Most of the time we focus solely on physical protection, but you can go beyond that and pray for protection emotionally, spiritually, and financially. Psalm 91 is an excellent psalm to pray over him as well.

Lord, I come before you today and I ask that You would protect my brother. Guide him as he goes about his day and send Your angels to guard him. Let his steps be assured and give him peace in the midst of difficult tasks. Keep my brother safe from all harm, no matter what he faces today. Thank you, Lord, for your protection! In the mighty name of Jesus, amen!

Prayer of Blessing for your Brother

Prayer Point: All throughout scripture we see how powerful blessings are. Pray for a blessing over your brother’s life. That God would shower His love, favor, grace over your brother.

God, I come before You today to bless my brother. He is a blessing in my life that cannot be replaced. So, I ask that You O’ Lord would pour out your blessings upon him. Continue to give him strength and courage in every season of his life. Let Your love flow into his heart so that it overflows onto those he encounters during this day. Grant him the desires of his heart and let him always call upon your name. In Jesus’ name, amen!

Prayer of Wisdom for your Brother

Prayer Point: The Bible says, If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. – James 1:5. Pray for your brother to have wisdom all the decisions he makes.

Father God, I come before You to ask for wisdom for my brother. Grant my brother the ability to think clearly so that he may make wise decisions and act with integrity. Let him always be able to see his way through a difficult situation because of Your guidance at that moment. I pray You would grant him the gift of the word of wisdom so that he may help those around him as well. In Jesus’ name, amen!

Prayer of Open Doors for your Brother

Prayer Point: Pray for your brother to have open doors from the Lord. Doors that come from the Lord! and pray that any other door that is not from Him would be shut.

Lord, I come before You to pray for my brother to have open doors. Pray that he would have opportunities arise where he is able to use his gifts and talents in a meaningful way that glorifies You. I pray that he would have eyes to see and ears to hear when these doors open. That he would not miss the opportunity but grab on to it. I also ask that these opportunities will be an avenue of blessing not only for him but also for those around him! In Jesus’ name, amen!

Prayer of Guidance for your Brother

Prayer Point: If your brother is at a crossroad or uncertain what to do. This is a good time to pray for guidance.

Father God, I come before You to pray for my brother. Pray that he would be guided in his decisions and actions by Your wisdom and knowledge of the best path forward. Let Your Word be like a lamp to his path, that he would see clearly what You have for him ahead. Fill him with a deep understanding of who he is in Christ. So, that he may live confidently according to Your will! In Jesus’ name, amen!

Prayer of Good Relationships for your Brother

Prayer Point: Relationships are extremely important. They have the power to make or break us. It’s always good to pray for good, godly, and healthy relationships for our brother. If he is married pray for his marriage. If he has children pray for the relationship he has with his kids.

But it doesn’t stop there…here are other relationships you can pray for:

– Your relationship with him
– Your brother’s relationship with your parents
– Your brother’s relationship with his co-workers and boss
– Your brother’s relationship with his friends

God, I come before you today to pray for my brother. Let him have good, healthy relationships with others in his life- friendships and romantic ones too! I pray that the people around him who are close to him will see how special he is and appreciate what a great person he is. And I ask that any relationship that would harm my brother would be removed! Give wisdom on who he should be friends with and help him to shine Your light to all people. In the name of Jesus, amen! 

Prayer for you Brother to Draw Closer to Jesus 

Prayer Point: The most important thing in your brother’s life is his relationship with Jesus. Pray for him to draw closer to him. If your brother is not saved then pray for his salvation.

Father, I come before You today to ask for greater closeness with Jesus for my brother. Pray that he would have a deeper relationship and understanding of who you are and what He has done on the cross! Give him an encounter where his heart is touched by Your love. That he would know Jesus better because of this. Pray that he would be able to worship You from the depths of his heart! In Jesus’ name, amen!

Prayer of Peace for my Brother

Prayer Point: During times of trials, tests, and hardship we need peace. If your brother is facing a time like that or dealing with fear. This is a good time for you to pray for God’s peace to be upon him.

Father, I come before You to ask for peace in my brother’s heart. Pray that he would be at rest and know that the Lord is with him always! Grant him an unshakeable hope today where no circumstance or person can shake his faith. Let your love flow into his life so it overflows onto those around him who need it. Pray that he would have peace at all times- even in the midst of chaos! In Jesus’ name, amen!
