Bible Verses About Unicorns

Bible Verses About Unicorns

Several Bible verses reference unicorns and the ones below all come from the King James Version (KJV) of the Bible. This version of the Bible is quite popular (still considered one of the most popular versions) and came onto the scene in 1611 AD.

But I have also added the NIV (New International Version) translation of each verse so you can see the difference between the translations.

“All the beasts obeyed Noah when he admitted them into the ark. All but the Unicorn. Confident of his own abilities, he boasted, ‘I shall swim.’”

Other Bible Translations That Use The Term Unicorn

Unicorn mentioned in the bible

The King James Version of the Bible isn’t the only version we see the word unicorn in the Bible. We actually see it in serval other translations. You will also notice that these translations are older translations. Most modern translations use a different word instead of a unicorn.

  • BRG Bible Translation
  • 1599 Geneva Bible
  • Jubliee 2000 Bible
  • Wycliffe Bible

The Douay Rheims 1899 Bible actually has different verses that use the word Unicorn than the KJV. Some of its translations and references are not common. Here is a prime example:

Psalm 77:69 – And he built his sanctuary as of unicorns, in the land which he founded for ever. (Douay Rheims)

Psalm 78:69 –And he built his sanctuary like high palaces, like the earth which he hath established for ever.

Other Suggested Unicorn Bible Verses, AKA the Goat Unicorn

The book of Daniel is full of prophetic visions with deep symbolism. And one of the things he saw during a vision was a “unicorn.” But it was actually a goat with one horn…a goat unicorn! It counts, right?

Daniel 8:5 KJV – And as I was considering, behold, an he goat came from the west on the face of the whole earth, and touched not the ground: and the goat had a notable horn between his eyes.

Daniel 8:5 NIV – As I was thinking about this, suddenly a goat with a prominent horn between its eyes came from the west, crossing the whole earth without touching the ground.
