In this article, we look at prayers for loneliness that you can use during your time with the Lord or even in a group setting.
Battling loneliness can be extremely difficult and can range in different degrees. For example, you can feel lonely because you are physically alone. You might miss your family, friends, or other relationships if they are not around. Or you lack those kinds of relationships and desire to have them. This could be for a spouse or a good friend.
Then there is the feeling of loneliness when you are surrounded by people, even people who love you. But there is this deep feeling inside you can’t shake. There was a season when I was younger that I felt lonely and dealt with rejection issues. The Lord really ministered to me about it.
Replacing my feeling with His truth, spending time with Him in prayer, and saying no to lie about why I was feeling lonely completely changed everything for me. That deep, gnawing feeling of loneliness is no longer there.
So, today I want to share some prayers for loneliness, but before we get started, I want to share some important tips!

A Prayer for Loneliness and Companionship
Heavenly Father, words can not describe the joy I have every time I come into Your presence. Your love is, and has always been, a heavy blanket of peace and warmth over me. Today I come to You in a time of loneliness and pain. It is so hard to be continually separated from those close to me.
Lord, I am worried that I have no companion around me and have been forgotten. You are the best matchmaker, and I pray You will bring the right people around me today. Thank You for the gift of friendship and companionship. In the might name of Jesus, amen.
A Prayer for Lonely Singles
Lord, thank You for being my God. Help me understand You love me unconditionally. To grasp and know that singlehood is a blessing. Help to see that Your timing is not my timing.
But Lord, I also long for someone to share my life with. I know You are the one who can bring warmth to all my relationships. Your Words in the Bible remind me that “it is not good for a man to be alone.” While I am in this season, I pray You will equip me with everything I need for the next stage of my life. Prepare me to meet my spouse but help to be patience as well. And help to deal with rejection in a way that is healthy.
Please help me focus my efforts and energy on what brings You joy. Thank You for cultivating within me the beautiful traits that will make me the best person to be in a relationship with.
God, I also pray that You silence every voice of lies in my head that says I must be in a relationship to be happy. It is true that my value comes from my identity in You and not in being a spouse. Thank You, Jesus. Amen.
A Prayer Against Loneliness
God of hope, I’m so grateful that You have promised never to leave me nor forsake me. What a relief to know that no matter where I am or what I’m doing, I may contact You at any hour of the day or night, knowing that Your ears are always open to my cries for help.
You are aware, Lord, that there are times when I am lonely. I have the idea that no one I know understands or cares about what I’m going through. Even those closest to me don’t seem to understand or care about me.
I know that they each have their own problems and interests. But because of Your never-ending love and care, I declare I am happy. My joy comes not from my job, spouse, bank balance, friends, but the satisfaction of God. Help me, Lord, turn my eyes away from my own selfish needs toward the joy and peace that only You can bring. You are the ultimate Truth and let my emotions line up with that truth. In Jesus’ name, amen.
A Prayer for Grief and Loneliness
I come to You, God, for You are the lifter of my head. I pray for Your comfort and healing touch over my life in such a time of pain, sorrow, and sadness. During this season of intense loneliness, my heart is full of hurt, anger, and sadness because of the loss.
I know that Your plan for my life is one of hope and prosperity, but it is becoming increasingly complex for me to focus on this truth. Lord, please heal my broken and hurting heart, Lord, I ask that You hold me steady and keep me close to You because You the grief is overwhelming. In Jesus’ name, amen.
A Prayer For Sadness And Loneliness
Lord Almighty, I come before You in the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Today my heart is so full of sadness and loneliness. Sometimes it even feels like I am depressed. But I know You are God who searches our hearts and knows us from the inside out. I know You see my current sadness and how much I need Your comfort. Father, I cast down all these anxieties at Your feet.
I pray that the Holy Spirit will deliver me to a place of healing and refreshment. Remind me, oh Lord, of the mega love You have for me, how You gave up everything for my sake and salvation. I trust you, Lord. In the name of Jesus I pray, amen.
A Prayer for a Lonely Mother
Loving Jesus, You have promised rest for all those who come to You and lay their burdens at your feet. I didn’t know my journey would be this hard. The burden is so heavy, but I can’t run away from my responsibilities and my children. My strength may be drying up, and the enemy’s condemnation attacks are increasing because of what is happening to my family.
But Lord, You are the one who truly knows my story. Instead of shame and loneliness, I pray You give me a double portion of Your love and Your peace. Please remind me of Your comfort and the truth that I am the apple of Your eyes. Amen
A Prayer for a Lonely Son
Abba Father, You know every thought, tear, and smile I have before speaking a single word. I’m Your cherished child, after all. I’ll never be able to fathom the depths of Your love for my son (mention his name) and me. I wish I cast his worries away or offer joy for him in this season of loneliness and hardship.
I pray he will come to understand the love You have for him. Your choice to give Your life on the cross for the sake of our distant hearts. The truth that You have never given upon us. Remind him You are always waiting for arms open for us to trust in You. I pray You will miraculously send Your comforter to bring warmth during this season. In the name of Jesus, I pray, amen.
A Prayer for Feeling Alone When You Are Not
Heavenly Father, You are unchanging, immutable, and faithful. I pray You will calm my anxious heart in all circumstances. I ask that nothing would take away my joy and peace. Not academics, finances, relationships, news, or evil powers can take me outside of Your love. Help me know I am not alone because You have remained with me tenderly, looking after my needs. Your Word says that you will never leave me, nor forsake me. Help to stand on that truth. In Jesus’ name, amen.
A Deliverance Prayer From Loneliness
I decree and declare that it is well with me and all around me. May the Holy Spirit help me stand victorious over the power of loneliness. I agree with Your Word that I am a new creature in Christ. The old things are gone, and all things have become new.
My joy is not tied to my past mistakes or successes. And that no matter who is around me or not… I am never alone. For You, God are always with me. And Your joy is my strength. For this privilege, I will rejoice and give praise to You. I decree that my life is filled with Your joy and peace that is beyond all understanding. Thank You, Jesus, amen and amen!
