In this article, we will look at a collection of Bible verses about mountains. This is a fascinating subject to study, as it’s rich in symbolism. So, grab your Bible, and let’s get started…
Did you know the Bible is filled with stories that involve mountains? And the cool thing is that sometimes these mountains literally mean a mountain, sometimes it’s symbolic, and sometimes it’s a combination of both.
This is the neat thing about God’s Word. It’s deep, having numerous layers of truth and insight. Today we will be exploring some scriptures about mountains. Now, if we took every single mountain in the Bible, this list of verses would be extensive.
So, what I did was focus solely on just the term mountain. This means you will not find specific verses on Mount Sinai or Mount Ararat but more on the general mountains.
Before we dig in, I want to share some themes we see about mountains and you can learn more from my article: Mountains in the Bible: Symbolism and Significance
- Mountains in scripture convey power and strength.
- Mountains can also symbolize an obstacle.
- Mountains were considered high places. Thus they were used for religious purposes, both for God and pagan rituals.

Now, keep those themes in mind as you read through these mountain Bible verses! It will enrich what you learn from them.
