Enjoy a powerful selection of prayer quotes that will encourage and bless you.
If you know me at all you know that I love good quotes. In the back of one of my journals is a section of quotes on prayer. They are a huge help and reminder of the power and importance of prayer in our lives.
Now, let’s be real, it’s super easy to go about life and toss our prayer time to the side. We put “doing” things as more important than “being” with Him.
And I am 100% guilty of this and I try to work on it daily, especially in my morning routine. Worldvision also, has a great article on how to become more prayerful. I encourage you to check it out!
With that said I wanted to share some of my all-time favorite BOOM Power prayer quotes with you all. You know the kind that shake you up a little?
May they stir up your faith and get you hungry to spend time with Him! I know for me they inspire and remind me how important prayer is.
But before we get started. If you enjoy these quotes on prayer and want to learn more I highly recommend checking out 7 Books on Prayer and Intercession.
Powerful Quotes on Prayer
This selection of prayer quotes come from various ministers and pastors. Some are still alive and some are now with the Lord. But they left us their legacy of hunger and understanding of prayer.
“Men may spurn our appeals, reject our message, oppose our arguments, despise our persons, but they are helpless against our prayers.” – J. Sidlow Baxter
“This is not a praying age; it is an age of great activity, of great movements, but one in which the tendency is very strong to stress the seen and the material and to neglect and discount the unseen and the spiritual.” – E. M. Bounds
“God never gives us discernment in order that we may criticize, but that we may intercede.” – Oswald Chambers
“Is prayer your steering wheel or your spare tire?” – Corrie ten Boom (more quotes from Corrie Ten Boom)
“Prayer should not be regarded as a duty which must be performed, but rather as a privilege to be enjoyed, a rare delight that is always revealing some new beauty.” – E.M. Bounds
“Every great movement of God can be traced to a kneeling figure.” – D.L Moody (more quotes from D. L Moody)
“Prayer is the forerunner of mercy. Turn to sacred history, and you will find that scarcely ever did a great mercy come to this world unheralded by supplication.” – C. H. Spurgeon
“To have God speak to the heart is a majestic experience, an experience that people may miss if they monopolize the conversation and never pause to hear God’s responses.” – Charles Stanley
“We think of prayer as a preparation for work, or a calm after having done work, whereas prayer is the essential work.” – Oswald Chambers
“There are parts of our calling, works of the Holy Spirit, and defeats of the darkness that will come no other way than through furious, fervent, faith-filled, unceasing prayer.” – Beth Moore (more quotes from Beth Moore)
“God has not changed; and His ear is just as quick to hear the voice of real prayer, and His hand is just as long and strong to save; as it ever was.” – R.A. Torrey

“Prayer does not fit us for the greater work; prayer is the greater work.” -Oswald Chambers.
“No man is greater than his prayer life. The pastor who is not praying is playing; the people who are not praying are straying. We have many organizers, but few agonizers; many players and payers, few pray-ers; many singers, few clingers; lots of pastors, few wrestlers; many fears, few tears; much fashion, little passion; many interferers, few intercessors; many writers, but few fighters. Failing here, we fail everywhere.”- Leonard Ravenhill
“The great people of the earth today are the people who pray, (not) those who talk about prayer.” – S.D.Gordon
“Prayer does not change God, but it changes him who prays.” – Soren Kierkegaard
“The man who mobilizes the Christian church to pray will make the greatest contribution to world evangelization in history.” – Andrew Murray
“A day without prayer is a day without blessing, and a life without prayer is a life without power.” – Edwin Harvey
“Four things let us ever keep in mind: God hears prayer, God heeds prayer, God answers prayer, and God delivers by prayer. ” – E. M. Bounds
“True prayer is measured by weight, not by length. A single groan before God may have more fullness of prayer in it than a fine oration of great length.” – C. H. Spurgeon
“Our prayers may be awkward. Our attempts may be feeble. But since the power of prayer is in the one who hears it and not in the one who says it, our prayers do make a difference.” – Max Lucado
“Don’t pray when you feel like it. Have an appointment with the Lord and keep it. A man is powerful on his knees.” – Corrie ten Boom (more quotes from Corrie Ten Boom)
“Prayer is the key that unlocks all the storehouses of God’s infinite grace and power.” – R.A. Torrey

“To get nations back on their feet, we must first get down on our knees.” – Billy Graham (more quotes from Billy Graham)
“Prayer will make a man cease from sin, or sin will entice a man to cease from prayer.” – John Bunyan

“We can be tired, weary, and emotionally distraught, but after spending time alone with God, we find that He injects into our bodies energy, power and strength.” – Charles Stanley
“Prayer, the basic exercise of the spirit, must be actively practiced in our private lives. The neglected soul of man must be made strong enough to assert itself once more. For if the power of prayer is again released and used in the lives of common men and women; if the spirit declares its aims clearly and boldly, there is yet hope that our prayers for a better world will be answered.” – Alexis Carrel
