8 Mighty Prayers for the Holy Spirit

In this article, we will look at some prayers for the Holy Spirit that you can use during your alone time with the Lord.

The work and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit are crucial to the believer and for the whole body of Christ. We see this when we read in Acts 2:17,

“In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams.”

This is why it’s important that we pray for the Holy Spirit to come, fill us, and be poured out. And that’s exactly what we are going to do today! We will go through 8 different prayers that will help you during your devotional time with the Lord or as an aid to pray in a group.

Before Using Prayers for the Holy Spirit

In all my posts with written prayers, I share the importance of making these kinds of prayers personal. Our Father in heaven desires for us to speak from our heart and sometimes that gets lost when we pray written prayers.

Some ways we can prevent that is by personalizing the prayers, add your feelings and desires for the Holy Spirit. You can even use these prayers as a springboard to help you jump into prayer.

A Prayer for the Holy Spirit to Come

Dear Lord Jesus, I thank You because You are a good God. Your Word says that when You ascended to heaven, You did not leave us alone, but You asked the Father to send us the Holy Spirit as our Helper and Comforter. Holy Spirit, thank You because You are always here with us.

May we feel Your presence as You come and fill this place. We are glad that we can always come to You for comfort, counsel, and reassurance that God our Father is always here with us. Thank You Holy Spirit. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

A Prayer for the Outpouring of the Holy Spirit

Lord, we thank You for the gift and the promise of the Holy Spirit which You promised for everyone who believes in You. We ask this day for the release of the Holy Spirit in the Name of the Lord Jesus. Pour out Your Spirit on men and women, young and old in this place. We open our hearts to receive the Breath of God. Let us prophesy and move in the gifts of the Holy Spirit in this place.

We want a revival in this place, Father. We are ready for a greater move of the Holy Spirit, Jesus. Thank You because You are cleansing our hearts that we would be sanctified before You and we will be worthy vessels in Jesus’ name have pray Amen.

A Prayer for to be Filled with the Holy Spirit

Loving Father, Your Word promises us that when we ask of the Holy Spirit, You will give Him to us. I pray for a fresh stirring and infilling of the Holy Spirit. I will not be drunk with wine but desire to be continually filled by the Holy Spirit. Rekindle the fire of Your love in me, Father. Lord,help me to be open to listen and follow the Holy Spirit where He guides me. Let the Holy Spirit continue building me to the fullness of Christ. I ask this in Jesus’ name amen.

A Prayer for the Refreshing of the Holy Spirit

Heavenly father, I thank You because You are slow to anger and always ready to forgive me of my sins when I repent. This time I repent of my thoughts, words and actions that have been contrary to Your Word. Cleanse me, Lord, with the Blood of Jesus.

Transform me and renew me daily as I spend time reading and meditating on Your Word. As I spend time in Your presence ,I am grateful for a refreshment from the inside out by Your Holy Spirit to my spirit, soul and my body. Thank You because today I am anointed with fresh oil from the Holy Spirit, to fulfill all duties and responsibilities that are in front of me in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

A Holy Spirit Prayer for Miracles

God also testified to it by signs, wonders and various miracles, and by gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his will. – Hebrews 2:4

The Bible calls You a mighty man of war. You introduced Yourself to the Israelites as I AM. The God is the one who caused the red sea to part, who healed the sick, and who changed water into wine. You are the God of miracles. There are no limits with You. Nothing is impossible for You. Today, we ask for the power of Your Holy spirit to do signs and wonders.

We stand on the gap for the sick, for the poor, for those who are crying. Holy Spirit, please do a miracle for them. Come and do only what You can do. In Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.

A Prayer for the Gifts of the Holy Spirit

Master Jesus, You are a Loving Savior. Before You ascended into Heaven on many occasions You promised to send us a helper. You promised to walk with us unto to the end of ages. Lord, we ask for the gift of wisdom, knowledge and discernment so that we might seek the things that are eternal.

Give us the gift of miracles, healing and increased faith that we might see our wondrous deeds in the land of the living. Thank You, Jesus, that You give us the gift of tongues with the gift of prophecy and interpretation to show the work of Your spirit in our lives. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Prayer to the Holy Spirit for Guidance

Whenever I lift my voice to pray for discernment and Your guidance Lord, I am reminded that You are a good shepherd. Forgive me for the times I have gone behind or ahead of Your plans. Father, I ask for Your Holy Spirit to lead me to Your perfect ways. I thank You that I don’t have to rely on my own wisdom, but I can depend on Your guidance. Thank You Holy Spirit. In the precious name of Jesus I pray, amen.

A Prayer to the Holy Spirit for Healing

Jehovah Rapha, You have promised freedom and healing to all those who come before You. The bible says that where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. For this reason, I decree healing over my body and over every infirmity because I am the indwelling of the Spirit of God.

Holy Spirit, I ask that You breathe Your life over every facet of my well being. Just like the valley of bones, may Your healing power bring all dead things back to life. I decree freedom, restoration, and strength in Jesus’ name. Amen.
