Many people believe that the Holy Spirit is some kind of invisible force or power. But the Bible tells us that he is a person, and not just any person – but God Himself.

The Holy Spirit is a divine being who guides believers on their journey to salvation through his power over all things in this world. He was present in Jesus’ life from birth (Luke 38-41) right up until His death on the cross for our sins (Luke 23:46).

Holy Spirit Fact 2 – The Holy Spirit Is Part Of The Trinity

Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, – Matthew 28:19 NKJV

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. – Galatians 5:22-23 NIV

The Holy Spirit helps produce good fruit in our lives. When we are filled with Him, He imparts peace and joy (and many others…9 in total) to us so that we can better carry out His work on earth.

Holy Spirit Fact 5 – The Holy Spirit Speaks To Us

The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. – Romans 8:16 NIV

Holy Spirit Fact 6 – The Holy Spirit Replaced Jesus On The Earth

But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. –  John 16:7 NIV

When Jesus walked the earth He did so much for us and when He was resurrected He didn’t just leave us. He sent the Holy Spirit! And as believers, He lives and works inside of us.

Holy Spirit Fact 7 – The Holy Spirit Convicts Us Of Sin

But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. When he comes, he will prove the world to be in the wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment: – John 16:7-8

We know that if we sin, the Holy Spirit will convict us of our sins and bring them to light before God. This then leads us to repentance and being made clean by the blood of Jesus.

Holy Spirit Fact 8 – The Holy Spirit Is A Teacher

But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. – John 14:26

We know that the Holy Spirit brings us comfort and nurtures us. But He is also a teacher. The Word is clear that He will teach us all things and remind us of everything Jesus has said to us.

It’s important for Christians to be open-minded about what God teaches them through the Holy Spirit, even if it doesn’t seem logical to man, but it will line up with the Bible.

But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. – John 16:13

It is His job to guide us into all truth, and without Him, we would be lost.  He does not speak on his own; he speaks what He hears from the Father— what is yet to come. The Holy Spirit guides us in every aspect of our lives with love, kindness, peace, and joy – even when don’t think we deserve it.

Holy Spirit Fact 1 1 – The Holy Spirit Has Emotions

And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. – Ephesians 4:30

This fact solidifies that the Holy Spirit is a person and not a stoic one at that. Our actions and words can actually grieve Him. We can actually make Him sad. It really makes you think twice about what you say and do.

Holy Spirit Fact 12 – The Holy Spirit Brings The Anointing

The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me,
because the Lord has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom for the captives
and release from darkness for the prisoners,
– Isaiah 61:1

Without the Holy Spirit, the anointing is not present. It is Him who brings it upon the believer and it’s the anointing that breaks a heavy yoke and transformation.

The Holy Spirit is a KEY player throughout scripture. He is not some backseat figure. He is at work throughout all the stories in scripture and He is still at work in our lives.

We’ve learned so much about the Holy Spirit. For example, He is a person and part of God’s trinity–just like Jesus! The Bible says that when we are baptized in water and receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. And it was not just for people who lived during biblical times but also for us today!

And this means we have received His gifts from Him too. So what can you do to grow closer to Him? Try getting into the Bible and spending some time in prayer before bedtime every night; both would be great ways to spend time with Him! What other things could you do as well?
